lumber planing sessions

new toys call for extra time spent making loads of sawdust! this "Super Sweet Deal" Dewalt planner wasn't going to thickness lumber on its own, so with the help of my good friend Johnathan we went to work making a big mess!

this tool was tuned and ready to go right out of the box, and we were both rewarded with an amazing ammount of beautiful stock that was harvested from my reclaimed pallet and sticker lumber.

we picked at least one of each species on the rack, and had a great time guessing the oddball board after its trip through the planner. the cedar was the most plesant, and the most beautiful! other standouts were the brown ash, the red white and blue aspen, the clear maple, and an interesting spotted brown one we couldn't identify.

while not perfect stock, most of this lumber will see a project of some type, some day. until that day, it will continue to dry on the lumber rack, and collect dust waiting for its day to shine!
